  • Emergency first aid at work or paediatric first aid (must be completed if caring for pre school age children)

To be completed by either primary and secondary carer 

  • Training, support and development standards for foster care
  • Effective recording 
  • Working in partnership
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Promoting the health of children in care (including administering medication)

  • Attachment, separation and loss (level 1)
  • Contact with birth families
  • Communicating and engagement with children and young people
  • Equality and diversity (e-learning)
  • Identity & culture
  • 1 other training appropriate to the ages of the children - (must be completed if caring for pre school age children)
  • Supporting children in care children in education - (must be completed if caring for school age children)
  • Caring for children who have been abused
  • Caring for children who have experienced loss and bereavement
  • Domestic abuse and its effects on children and young people
  • Children who misuse drugs and alcohol - (must be completed if caring for school age children)
  • Communicating and engagement with children and young people - (must be completed if caring for school age children)
  • Building resilience and self esteem for children in care
  • Preparation for independence - (must be completed if caring for school age children)
  • Two other trainings appropriate to the ages of the children being cared for - (must be completed if caring for pre school age children)
